We did a private tour with Edwin to see the areas where Easy Company, 506 PIR, 101 Airborne fought in Market-Garden and on the Island. He really knows his stuff and really brought the actions to life with his detailed knowledge. We have a still living member of the unit in our area and it was incredible to see where he, and the other members of the "Band of Brothers" fought. We also got to see several other of the key sites of Operation Market-Garden. I can't recommend Battlefield Discovery highly enough.

Edwin took us on a private tour of operations veritable and blockbuster. It was great to see where my grandfathers regiment fought and to hear the stories of the conditions from the area. It was amazing seeing the visible damage that still remains on the buildings. Edwin is a wealth of knowledge.

I booked a personalized tour with Edwin to follow the footsteps of my father who was a paratrooper with Easy Co, 2nd Bat, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne. Edwin took... read more us step by step from the time my Dad landed in a field near Son, NL to the point he was wounded at the Cross Roads battle, west of Arnhem. Edwin is very knowledgeable and it is obvious he does his research and is a professional. When I booked I was wondering if we would get the "drive-by" type of tour but this wasn't the case at all. We left at 8:30 in the morning and returned at 6:45 pm. We would never have been able to find the sites we visited on our own. He had details that I had never uncovered.

Whilst a full day specialist tour might seem expensive it was in reality excellent value for money. Edwin had done considerable research in advance of where my father's unit had... read more been which together with his detailed knowledge of the overall battlefield actions brought the whole experience to life. In the afternoon we went from point to point following exactly where my father had been in 1944 culminating in identifying the exact buildings where his unit had had it's field hq and from where he had been in action against a German patrol.
I plan to return and bring younger family members to experience the same tour.

"You must see the ground to understand the battle." Military historians have been saying that forever. This tour was the epitome of understanding the Market Garden Operation. The roads, the... read more vast vistas of farmlands where the landings took place, and the "single roadway" in and out of the entire campaign are a "must" to understand the entirety of this battle. Edwin was an outstanding guide who was as thorough and as detailed as I could have ever hoped. I think the most fascinating part of my trip was the Arnhem portion and the many insights Edwin presented on the "lay of the land" and how it affected so much of the battle for that bridge, not to mention the many personal soldiers stories he relayed during that time. Edwin was wonderful and I am thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to have spent my trip with such a wonderfully knowledgeable historian........he's.......NOT, "just a guide"! John Friscia

The one-day battlefield tour of Arnhem with Jo Hook was excellent! We were advised that she was one of the most knowledgable on Arnhem and we were not disappointed. She... read more gave us a very full, detailed and well-illustrated day as we followed the early days of the Arnhem campaign from the drop-zone through the fighting of various units and ending at the War Cemetery. Her dialogue was engaging, with numerous, personal accounts, supported by her personal connection to some of the veterans. I would throughly recommend Battlefield Discovery - and Jo Hook - for careful planning and detailed knowledge.
